NAHCO rewards cleaner for returning $10,000 found in aircraft
The Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc has rewarded a company employee, Mr Auwal Dankode, who discovered and returned $10,000 while cleaning an aircraft in Kano.According to a statement issued on Saturday, Dankode was welcomed to the company's headquarters at Lagos' Murtala Muhammed International Airport for his transparency, honesty, and integrity.
Dankode was working with other colleagues to clean the MS 878 passenger aircraft operated by Egypt Air when he discovered the money left behind by a passenger on seat No. 25H at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, MAKIA, last Wednesday.
He promptly handed over the money to the airline's Station Manager.
Mr Indranil Gupta, NAHCO's Group Managing Director/CEO, praised Dankode for being a true NAHCO ambassador who has put his company training to good use, and announced a handsome cash reward, instant promotion, and appointment as NAHCO Brand Ambassador, according to a company statement.
Gupta, who led the management team in recognizing the employee, stated, "We are extremely proud of Auwal's exemplary character. He is a true NAHCO ambassador and embodies the values of honesty, integrity, diligence, and hard work.
The GMD added, "We celebrate your existence, and we hope this is just the beginning. Allow your family's values to guide you and shape you into the ideal leader that everyone will be proud of."
The CEO noted that the majority of NAHCO employees demonstrate these values in their daily work at the company.
"We urge you to continue working the same way with very high integrity, diligence and continue being a good NAHCO ambassador," Mr. Gupta said.
Also speaking on the occasion, NAHCO's Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Adeoye Emiloju, praised Dankode for his high integrity.
"No one can claim to have the integrity that you have demonstrated. "You've demonstrated that it is something within you," Emiloju stated.
Mr. Didier Steullet, the COO, also encouraged Dankode to continue on the right path.
Steullet said, "What you've done is excellent. You are an example not only for the week, but most likely for the entire year. My only suggestion is to continue on your current path. Remain yourself and don't get carried away by the praise you're receiving on social media. You must remain grounded and make a difference in the world. Stay on the nice side of the 'force' and your life will be fine."
Dr. Sola Obabori, Group Executive Director, added, "You've become a NAHCO poster boy not only in Nigeria, but all over the world, because the internet has made everything global. You have done something to make us proud. In today's Nigeria, where the value of a dollar is extremely high, returning so many of them is commendable. To see something as valuable and then give it up demonstrates that you are a man with a pure heart. This is highly commendable and appreciated. Every good-hearted Nigerian will appreciate what you have done."
As a brand ambassador, Dankode would attend all NAHCO major events across the country, promote the brand, and have the opportunity to travel and interact with the company's top officials and stakeholders.
