Military forces eliminate 12 insurgents and dismantle base in Zamfara
On Monday, Nigerian Army troops neutralized twelve terrorists and dismantled their camps in Zamfara State. Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, revealed in a statement on Tuesday that the operation was conducted based on credible intelligence regarding the terrorists' activities in Maru town.
Engaging in a fierce gun battle, the troops successfully eliminated 12 terrorists and forced others to flee. Subsequently, the soldiers destroyed the terrorists' base, confiscating weapons such as an AK-47 rifle, a magazine, 12 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and two locally made guns. Additionally, they recovered ten motorcycles and 18 rustled cows.
Nwachukwu reiterated the Nigerian Army's dedication to combatting terrorism and insurgency, emphasizing their commitment to safeguarding citizens' safety and security. He assured that decisive measures will continue to be taken to curb terrorist activities in the North-West region.
