Loss of values among youths cause of South East insecurity – Abaribe
Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe has connected increased instability in the South East region to a decline in values such as respect for human life, love, and unity among young people.Abaribe, who represents Abia South senatorial district in the National Assembly, believes it is necessary to resuscitate trade schools and certifications to engage and financially support young people, preventing them from being exploited by criminals.
On Friday, Abaribe spoke at the South East Youth Leadership Development and Value Reorientation Summit in Enugu, emphasizing the necessity of returning to the principles of love, unity, truthfulness, and respect for human life in order to create a better future for the region.
He emphasized that by recommitting to these ideals, the youth can lead transformative change and create a more secure and affluent Southeast region.
He went on: "We must go back to those values upon which our communities were built, that of love, unity, truthfulness and respect for human life if we must have the kind of future that we want."
He stated that it was time for the region's youth to combat the criminals who had persisted to disrupt economic activity under the guise of wanting self-actualization.

Senator Uche Ekwunife, the Director-General of the South-East Governors Forum and the summit's convener, emphasized the necessity of empowering youths in driving regional prosperity and national development.
She emphasized that the curriculum intends to inspire young people to become responsible leaders like Nnamdi Azikiwe, Alex Ekwueme, and Dora Akunyili, who have made major contributions to the region's history.
Ekwunife urged participants to reflect and explore ways to use their potential, abilities, and skills to effect good change in their communities, thereby promoting a brighter future for the South East area and Nigeria as a whole.
"Our goal is to let the youths know that they can become the next generation of responsible leaders like Nnamdi Azikiwe, Alex Ekwueme and Dora Akunyili," according to her.
