Lagos, Axxela partner to improve energy infrastructure

Axxela Limited, a leading provider of energy solutions in sub-Saharan Africa, has announced plans to collaborate with the Lagos State Government to address energy challenges and improve power reliability throughout the state.

The announcement was made during a recent visit to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at Lagos House in Marina, according to a statement posted on the company's website on Monday.

Axxela, through its subsidiary Gaslink Nigeria Limited, has been at the forefront of private-sector natural gas distribution, extending Lagos' gas infrastructure by more than 170 kilometres across major industrial and commercial areas.

By providing a cleaner and more cost-effective energy solution, Axxela helps businesses reduce operational costs while also advancing Nigeria's decarbonisation goals.

Its robust gas distribution network has attracted new industries, enabled existing businesses to expand, and fuelled economic development, resulting in higher tax revenues for Lagos State.

In addition to gas distribution, Axxela has demonstrated significant expertise in power development, having completed Independent Power Projects for the Lagos State Government in Akute, Alausa, and Lagos Island.

Most recently, it completed a 5.8 MW power project for Cadbury Nigeria, demonstrating its continued commitment to improving energy reliability for industries.

During a meeting with Axxela's management team, Governor Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed the state's commitment to creating an investment-friendly environment.

He assured Axxela that the government would support its efforts to expand energy infrastructure and promote sustainable development in Lagos.

The managing director of Axxela Gas Distribution stated, "We take pride in driving energy security and making significant contributions to Lagos State's energy hub." Lagos is strategically important to our business, and our initiatives directly support industrialisation while also promoting environmental sustainability. Our goal is to continue collaborating with the state government to close the energy gap. Our AGI facility in Ikeja and expansion along the VI-Lekki corridor demonstrate our commitment to sustainable energy solutions that empower industries while lowering carbon emissions."
