Kwankwaso Returns! - Bashir Ahmad Responds to NNPP Crisis

Former presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad, has shared his response to the ongoing turmoil within the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

As a reminder, the NNPP's presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Rabiu Kwankwaso, faced suspension from the party's Board of Trustees (BoT) due to alleged anti-party activities.

However, a surprising turn of events occurred when the faction led by Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso expelled the party's Founder and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Boniface Aniebonam, along with several members.

The NNPP declared Aniebonam's immediate expulsion from the party, citing accusations of anti-party actions against him, as well as those of the BoT Chairman and the National Publicity Secretary, Agbo Major, among others.

Aniebonam was charged with establishing a splinter group within the party, intending to foster discontent within the NNPP.

Ladipo Johnson, an NNPP chieftain, denounced the meeting organized by Aniebonam where Kwankwaso's suspension was announced, considering it to be unauthorized and thus devoid of legal standing.

Reacting to the crisis in the party, Ahmad wrote, “Another twist in the NNPP saga as a fraction of the party, loyal to Sen. Kwankwaso, expelled members who organized the earlier Board of Trustees meeting in Lagos. Kwankwaso is back as the tensions continue to rise within the opposition party.”
