Gunmen kill six in fresh Benue attack

Six individuals were slain in an attack on the Gugur hamlet in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area, Benue State, on Tuesday by gunmen who were thought to be local militias.

Our correspondent was informed on Wednesday by local government sources that the gunmen attacked the community between 9 and 10 p.m. on motorcycles.

Jonathan Agbidye, the state House of Assembly representative for the constituency, confirmed the incident on Wednesday and stated that six persons had died in the attack.

"Those folks in that specific community were against the hoodlums; luck ran out on them and they managed to capture and kill two of them in April," the speaker declared.

Thus, the Tuesday night incident that occurred was only a mission of retaliation. However, the area is currently quiet. This morning, the cops and I visited that location.

Shaku Justine, the head of the local government, confirmed the incident and stated that the militias attacked the town on Tuesday between 9 and 10 p.m.

"It's true that the incident happened yesterday between 9pm and 10pm," Justine stated. There were six fatalities in the neighbourhood.

The chairman reported that he and Agbidye, the state assembly representative for Katsina-Ala, conducted an on-the-spot evaluation of the community and that things are getting back to normal in the hamlet.

Catherine Anene, the state police command's spokesman, stated she had not yet received the complaint when called.
