Google tests AI-powered Gemini in Calendar app
Google Calendar is getting a new AI-powered feature that lets users manage their schedules more efficiently using conversational prompts. The Gemini side panel, which is currently being tested through Google Workspace Labs, allows users to easily check their calendar, create events, and find event details.
The tool, which can be accessed by clicking the "Ask Gemini" icon in the top-right corner of Google Calendar, suggests prompts. Users can also submit custom queries such as "When is my next meeting with Emily?" or "Add a weekly workout every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 6 a.m."
This AI integration aims to make calendar management easier by eliminating the need for manual entries and searches. Google Calendar has joined Gmail, Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Chat in receiving the Gemini AI assistant. However, it is unclear when the feature will become widely available.
