Gloating about Tinubu’s Democracy Day fall achieves nothing – Peter Obi

Peter Obi, the Labour Party's 2023 presidential contender, stated that rejoicing about President Bola Tinubu's fall during today's democracy day rally at Eagle Square in Abuja achieved nothing.

The former governor of Anambra State called the fall as tragic and wished the President well after the incident, which has been trending on social media for hours.

According to NigerianWatch, Tinubu approached the truck shortly after arriving at the 2024 Democracy Day location, but lost his footing just as he was about to jump inside.

Despite the lapse, the President regained his composure and completed the proceedings.

On Wednesday, Obi chastised individuals criticizing the President over the incident in a series of posts on his official X handle, saying that similar things might happen to anyone.

The former governor also urged Nigerians to remember their shared human weakness and to remain focused on the problems that will lead to a new Nigeria.


He wrote: "I was saddened to hear about President Tinubu's awful fall today. I wish him well. We gain nothing by gloating over an accident that could happen to any of us.

"We are all human beings, and while we strongly differ on how to bring Nigeria ahead, we must remember our shared human weakness. Let us remain focused on The concerns that will shape a new Nigeria.
