Four killed in a single-vehicle accident in Ogun State

Four individuals lost their lives on Friday in a solitary accident near J3 on the Sagamu-Ore expressway.

Anthony Uga, the Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), revealed this information to reporters in a statement provided in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, through the Commission’s Public Education Officer, Florence Okpe.

The statement reported that the solitary accident, involving a blue Toyota Camry with registration number BDG184FY, occurred around 11:40 in the morning on the Ore-Ijebu-Ode section of the expressway near J3.

The statement conveyed, “A fatal crash occurred at about 11:40hrs on Friday 09/02/24 on Ore-Ijebu-Ode section of the expressway around J3.”

“01 vehicle was involved with registration number BDG184FY, a Toyota Camry blue colour.”

“A total of four persons; three male adults and one female adult were involved, and they all died from the lone crash.”

Uga attributed the cause of the accident to excessive speed, which led to a loss of control, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and somersault into a swamp.

He added that the deceased individuals' remains had been deposited at the State General Hospital morgue in Ijebu-Ode.

“It was a combined rescue operation with FRSC, TRACE, and ZEBRA 50 Ijebu-Ode.

The Sector Commander, Anthony Uga, recommended that drivers embarking on extended journeys should take a 15-minute break after driving for 4 hours to prevent fatigue while driving. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of adhering to the specified speed limit.

He expressed condolences to the families of the accident victims and encouraged them to reach out to FRSC Ogbere for further details regarding the crash.
