Major General Chris Alli served as the Chief of Army Staff between November 1993 and August 1994. He died in a military hospital in Lagos in the early hours of Sunday, November 19, after a brief illness.
Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the current Chief of Army Staff, expressed heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Nigerian Army, praising Alli's dedication and service to the nation in various capacities. Alli's military career included serving as the Director of Military Intelligence (DMI) and achieving the rank of the 9th Chief of Army Staff.
Born on December 25, 1944, in Koton Karfe, Kogi State, General Chris Alli began his military journey on October 20, 1967, as a member of the Emergency Short Service Combatant Course. He held various roles in the Nigerian Army, contributing to the nation's defense and rising through the ranks. Alli also served as the Military Administrator of Plateau State at one point in his career.
