Federal High Court Judge Fatun Riman Passes Away
The Federal High Court proceedings in Lagos came to an abrupt halt on Monday following the confirmed demise of Hon. Justice Fatun Odohi Riman, a colleague of the judges.
The Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Hon. Justice John Tsoho, conveyed the sad news to all judges, announcing the passing of Justice Riman, a member of the Awka division. In a notice dated Oct. 28, Justice Tsoho disclosed that Justice Riman passed away in England in the early hours of Oct. 28. The late judge had been admitted to a hospital in England before his demise.
The notice stated that the family of the deceased would provide further information about the burial. Consequently, judges in the Lagos division had to adjourn their cases to later dates.
In another development, constitutional lawyer Prof Ben Nwabueze has passed away at the age of 91. Born in 1931 in Atani, Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State, Nwabueze served as the secretary-general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.
Reacting to his death, the Vice-President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Damian Okeke-Ogene, described it as a great loss to Nigeria and the Igbo nation. Nwabueze was renowned for his contributions to constitutional law and his commitment to anti-corruption efforts.
