FG to improve Nigeria’s aviation safety with reforms, technology – Keyamo

The Federal Government intends to incorporate advanced technologies into Nigeria's aviation sector to improve efficiency, passenger experience, and air safety.

Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation, announced this on Saturday in Abuja during the NCAA's 25th anniversary symposium.

The symposium, titled "Human Capital Development: Upskilling the Next Generation of Aviators," focused on the future of the aviation industry.

Keyamo, represented by Permanent Secretary Dr. Ibrahim Kana, emphasised technology's role in shaping aviation.

He stated that these advancements would promote economic growth while improving safety and security.

"While NCAA has achieved remarkable success over the past 25 years, sustaining these accomplishments requires a deliberate focus on strategic planning, stakeholder collaboration, and the adoption of innovative practices," Keyamo told the audience.

"Aviation safety is a never-ending process of adaptation and improvement. With technological advancements, rising passenger demand, and increasing globalisation, the dynamics of aviation safety are rapidly evolving."

Keyamo stated that the symposium reaffirmed the government's commitment to revitalising and repositioning the aviation industry in Nigeria's socioeconomic and political landscape.

"The symposium promises to provide lasting solution kits for a new era of the air transport industry," the speaker said.

Capt. Chris Najomo, Director-General of NCAA, praised the organisation for its role in shaping Nigeria's aviation sector through regulatory excellence and safety enforcement.

"From the Civil Aviation Department (CAD) to the NCAA, which we are now celebrating, our journey has been one of dedication, resilience, and innovation.

"The NCAA was built on the growth achieved by its predecessor organisations through remarkable transformations, ranging from regulatory reforms to advances in aviation safety and service delivery."

"As we celebrate current achievements, we must also look ahead to embracing new technologies, improving operational efficiencies, and fostering partnerships that will elevate our aviation industry to even greater heights," he told the crowd.

Najomo reaffirmed the NCAA's support for the minister's Five-Point Agenda and President Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritise infrastructure development, safety, economic growth, and job creation.
