FG provides free CNG conversion at six Lagos locations
The Federal Government's Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative will allow Lagos residents to convert their vehicles to CNG for free on Friday, 13 September, from 3 to 6 p.m. at six specific locations.The first 50 vehicles at each site that pass inspection will be given free CNG conversion kits.
Owners can then refuel for N230 per SCM at NIPCO stations, which is cheaper than petrol.
Oluwaseun Osiyemi, Lagos State Commissioner for Transport, announced the opportunity via X.
The initiative's goals are to promote cleaner energy, lower fuel costs, and help people transition to more environmentally friendly modes of transportation.

In addition to Lagos, the PCNGI's "Operation First Come, First Serve" initiative will provide free CNG conversions in four other cities between Friday and Saturday.
Conversions will take place on September 13 between 3 and 6 p.m. in Abeokuta, Ogun State, and Ibadan, Oyo State.
Similar conversions will be available in Abuja and Kaduna on September 14, from 3 to 6 p.m.
The first 50 cars inspected at each location will receive free CNG kits if they pass the conversion process.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu launched the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGI) in August 2023 to transform Nigeria's transport sector, with plans to introduce over 11,500 CNG-enabled vehicles and 55,000 conversion kits for petrol vehicles.
