Emir of Kano urges the First Lady to implore Tinubu to address the issue of hunger
The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Bayero, has urged the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, to advocate for her husband, President Bola Tinubu, to address pressing issues such as hunger, starvation, and insecurity affecting the nation.
During Tinubu's wife's visit to him in Kano on Monday, the emir made this plea, expressing that while there are various channels to communicate needs and requests to the government, her approach is the most direct way to convey the current state of affairs to the President.
Speaking through an interpreter, Bayero emphasized the urgency of the hunger crisis, stating that it requires immediate attention.
He also implored Tinubu's wife to encourage the president to address the escalating insecurity.
"The issue of insecurity is another significant challenge we are grappling with. I understand that your government inherited it, but more substantial measures need to be taken to address the threats," Bayero emphasized.
The emir also expressed apprehension about the Federal Government's proposal to relocate the offices of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria and the Central Bank of Nigeria from Abuja to Lagos.
"We need to be provided with a comprehensive understanding of the motives behind the relocation. Personally, I cannot discern the true intentions of the government," remarked Bayero.
He urged the government to be transparent and openly elucidate the reasons for the relocations.
The Emir also encouraged the First Lady to promote her Renewed Hope Initiative Pet Programme, designed to empower underprivileged Nigerians.
On March 6, Tinubu denounced a violent assault over the weekend in Zamfara and Kano states, where bandits unleashed chaos.
According to reports, a divisional police officer, an inspector, and a vigilante lost their lives during the attack in Maru Local Government of Zamfara State.
Likewise, in Kano State, unidentified gunmen forcibly entered the residence of a village head, ruthlessly ending his life.
