Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has paid June salaries and pensions to workers and pensioners in the state ahead of the Sallah festival.

"This is in line with the government's long-standing practice of meeting its salary obligations before the 26th of every month and to enable our Muslim brothers and sisters to have a good Sallah celebration."

The commissioner reminded everyone that the government will continue to prioritise the welfare of workers and pensioners in the state, noting that Edo's comprehensive changes in the public and civil service have made it the most appealing public employer in Nigeria.

He added, "Civil and public officials in Edo State have continued to get timely salary payments, even after the state's minimum wage was raised from N40,000 to N70,000, the highest in the country.

"We will continue to place a premium on the workers' welfare, ensuring they are well-empowered and supported to deliver optimal and quality services to Edo people."
