Crew members emerge unharmed after a NAF helicopter crashes in Port Harcourt
Crew members of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) successfully survived a crash involving an MI-35P helicopter in Port Harcourt on Friday.
The crash was verified by a statement from the Director of NAF Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet.
He stated, "The unfortunate incident occurred at approximately 7.45 a.m., shortly after the aircraft took off for an operation against economic saboteurs in Rivers State.
Fortunately, all five members of the crew survived the crash with only minor injuries and are currently receiving medical attention at the NAF Medical Centre in Port Harcourt.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, is currently en route to Port Harcourt to assess the situation firsthand, attend to the well-being of the crew, and provide further directives.
Occurrences of this nature serve as a somber reminder of the hazards associated with military flying and the risks that NAF pilots and technicians undertake in their challenging tasks of defending our nation and deterring criminal elements from their unlawful activities."
