Bus Plunge off Bridge Results in 31 Fatalities in Mali
On Tuesday, a tragic incident in Mali claimed the lives of 31 individuals, with an additional 10 sustaining injuries, as a bus en route to Burkina Faso veered off a bridge in the southeast of the country, according to the Transport ministry. The accident transpired around 5:00 pm (1700 GMT) at a bridge spanning the Bagoe river.
The ministry's statement reported, "A bus departing from Kenieba commune for Burkina Faso overturned off a bridge. The probable cause is the driver losing control of the vehicle."
Mali frequently witnesses automobile accidents due to the poor condition of many roads, highways, and vehicles in the region. Just earlier this month, another tragedy unfolded when a bus traveling to the capital Bamako collided with a truck in central Mali, resulting in 15 fatalities and 46 injuries.
