At 82, I still flee from sexual temptation, says Adeboye
Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, says he is still concerned about sexual immorality despite his 'anointing' and years in ministry.Adeboye stated that despite his age, he runs faster than ever before to avoid any type of sexual temptation, saying that no amount of anointing can overcome it.
The cleric also urged gospel pastors to be mindful of sexual immorality and the mistaken idea that their 'anointing' will help them resist any temptation.
He made these remarks during a sermon at the recently finished Ministers & Workers Conference of RCCG Americas 1, which included North, Central, and Caribbean countries and had the subject "The Glory Ahead".
During a lecture posted on his YouTube page on Friday, Adeboye mentioned how Samson, an Israeli judge, fell into sexual immorality despite being anointed.
He added, "Someone asks, at your age, why are you still running. I run faster than previously because the closer you get to the finish line, the more attentive you need to be.
"Some of you can ask, 'Daddy, what are you saying, are you still running?'" I run quickly.
"With all your anointing?" Does anointing convert your body into stone? Samson was anointed. He single-handedly murdered a thousand soldiers. A woman completed him. I hope the boys are listening.
"You can ask, 'Is anybody still interested in an 82-year-old man?'" She isn't interested in you, but in putting an end to all the wonderful things God has accomplished through you.
"You see that woman smiling at you everywhere you go, she is there smiling, and she is not your wife, run."
Adeboye also advised young people to be wary of lust, encouraging them to avoid anything that resembled sin.
He said, "And you girls, when you see a boy gazing at you and saying, 'Where have you been all my life? It appears that the sun has just come out.
"He is calling you Sunshine. By the time he's done with you, you won't know the difference between sunshine and dusk. You may laugh, but heed my words.
"I warn my kids, especially the lads. I said, "If the devil comes against you, tell him to get lost, but if you see a girl smiling at you funny, run because you can't win the battle."
