An 80-year-old man takes his own life in Lagos

An 80-year-old man, Isiyaka Ayinde, reportedly takes his own life at the Watch Tower in the Araromi Imota area of Lagos State.

According to a tenant in the compound, the deceased hanged himself with a rope in the kitchen. The tenant heard his children shouting for him to come and see Baba in the kitchen. Upon entering the kitchen, he discovered the lifeless body of the tenant hanging from a rope tied to the burglary proof of one of the windows.

Upon reaching out, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, verified the incident to our correspondent.

He further mentioned that, considering the deceased's age and the family's religious beliefs, they insisted on an immediate burial for the body. He stated, "The DCB personnel from the division visited the scene, and photographs were captured.

"The family of the deceased opts for an immediate burial instead of depositing the body at the mortuary, citing the advanced age and religious beliefs of the departed."
