A staggering number of 14,000 applicants vied for just 3,000 temporary teaching positions in Jigawa
In a span of just 24 hours, an astonishing 14,000 candidates applied for temporary teaching positions in Jigawa State.
Professor Haruna Musa, Chairman of the Jigawa State Universal Basic Education Board, revealed this during the official presentation of permanent appointment letters to 3,233 candidates in Dutse, the state capital.
He emphasized that these appointees initially served as temporary teachers for two years before being granted permanent and pensionable positions, contingent upon passing examinations and undergoing training.
"All 3,233 teachers were selected based on merit, ensuring they possess the requisite capabilities to impart sound knowledge to our children," he affirmed.
Professor Musa underscored the board's commitment to closely monitor their performance, emphasizing that any deviation from employment guidelines outlined in the offer would result in termination.
Furthermore, he disclosed that the board had initiated recruitment for an additional 3,000 temporary J-Teach teachers to address Jigawa's longstanding teacher shortage.
Remarkably, within just 48 hours of opening the portal for applications, over 14,000 candidates had applied for the temporary teaching positions, indicating significant interest in the opportunity.
Governor Umar Namadi, addressing the gathering, highlighted mass employment as integral to the successful execution of his 12-point agenda, emphasizing the importance of having a well-trained and capable workforce to effectively implement government policies.
