The removal of subsidy rescued Nigeria, asserts APC leader
Dayo Adeyeye, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress and former Minister of Works, emphasized on Thursday that Nigeria would be facing a standstill if President Bola Tinubu hadn't removed the oil subsidy.
He highlighted that after successfully winning the presidential primaries of the APC and the subsequent general election, the President faced another round of battles aimed at liberating Nigerians from hardships and various challenges.
Adeyeye, who serves as the National Chairman of South West Agenda, made these remarks in Jos on Thursday during the launch of palliative distribution to supporters in Plateau State, organized by the group.
Expressing concern, he pointed out that past administrations had inflicted considerable damage on the Nigerian economy, creating obstacles for the present administration when it assumed office.
Adeyeye emphasized, "The current government under President Bola Tinubu is not seeking to vilify the previous administration, but it's crucial to note that Nigeria would have faced a standstill without the removal of fuel subsidy."
He explained, "The revenue from the oil we are currently selling had been collected long before this administration took office. So, when reports indicate the sale of 1.8 million barrels, the funds are not readily available. The situation is dire, but President Bola Tinubu cannot openly state it."
The APC leader, however, reassured that the president is actively working to improve the situation for the benefit of Nigerians. He urged the public to lend their support to President Tinubu's renewed hope agenda.
"Our support for Tinubu's election with SWAGA wasn't in vain. He overcame those who sought to obstruct his victory, but the task isn't complete.
"We didn't back him for Nigerians to endure suffering. Our aim was for him to alter the trajectory of Nigeria. He's proven capable before, and we believe he won't let Nigerians down. Presently, he is engaged in another round of battles to improve the state of Nigeria.
"President Tinubu is tirelessly working. He urges Nigerians to be patient. His vigilance is unwavering.
"He's traveling extensively to address the long-standing destruction inflicted on Nigeria over many years, stretching up to forty years.
"Tinubu is well-informed about the challenges on the Plateau. The roads are in disrepair across the country.
"His vision includes implementing a light train from Abuja to Jos.
"In eight years, Nigeria will undergo a remarkable transformation; you won't recognize it anymore. He is prepared to make bold decisions for the welfare of the people."
