YouTuber, wife killed during livestream over YouTube feud
A shooting on Sunday night along the vibrant Las Vegas Strip, close to the famous Bellagio hotel fountains, resulted in the deaths of two individuals in what is thought to be an incident linked to a continued feud between competing social media figures.
The dramatic event, shockingly streamed live on YouTube, led to an arrest on Monday.
Authorities from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department named the suspect as 41-year-old Manuel Ruiz, who turned himself in to law enforcement on Monday and now faces two murder charges. Police indicated that the shooting was a targeted event, noting that the suspect and victims were familiar with one another and their altercation intensified across various social media channels before the deadly confrontation.
Undersheriff Andrew Walsh confirmed in a news conference that the dispute had been escalating online, but he refrained from giving specific information about the nature of the conflicts.
The shooting took place around 10:40 p.m. on Las Vegas Boulevard, next to the Bellagio Resort & Casino. Disturbing clips circulating online, verified by Storyful, depict a man speaking to the camera while people stroll nearby. Abruptly, another man, wearing a cap and sunglasses, starts firing as a woman tries to intervene. Approximately seven shots ring out in the video, as terrified onlookers flee for safety or drop to the ground.
Officers patrolling the area heard the gunfire and responded quickly, finding two victims with apparent gunshot wounds. Emergency medical teams arrived soon after, but both individuals died at the location.
While the police have yet to formally release the victims' names, posts on social media suggest that the deceased are YouTubers referred to by netizens as ‘Finny Da Legend’ and his alleged partner. The suspect is widely thought to be YouTuber ‘SinCity-MannyWise’.
The Clark County Coroner’s office has not published any information regarding the victims at this time.
