Tinubu’s aide tackles Ndume, says president aware of Nigerians' plight
Temitope Ajayi, President Bola Tinubu's Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, has responded to the Chief Whip of the Senate, Ali Ndume, who stated that the President is uninformed of Nigerians' misery.Ndume, a member of the All Progressives Congress representing Borno South, has expressed concern that the President is "not in the picture of what is happening outside the Villa."
He addressed this on Wednesday at the National Assembly complex in Abuja, stating, "Mr. President is not aware of what is going on outside the Villa. He's been fenced off and confined. Many of us are unwilling to engage him through the backdoor.
"They've prohibited him from speaking, and he doesn't have public affairs managers other than his spokeswoman, Ajuri Ngelale, who produces press releases. Nigerians are quite angry."
The Senate Chip also urged the federal government to develop long-term solutions to the nation's growing hunger crisis.
"The government is not doing anything about food scarcity, and it must act quickly. We do not have food reserves. A food crisis is the worst crisis that any country can face. "If we combine that with the security crisis, it will be severe," he warned.
Ajayi responded on Friday via his X handle, calling Ndume's charges "baseless and unfounded."
The President's assistant stated that Tinubu is working hard to improve the situation.
He stated, "He made frivolous and unjustified claims against the President that he is disconnected from the realities of Nigerians. This President is well aware of Nigerians' existing material conditions and is working hard to address the difficulties.
"While the economy continues to face headwinds, things are progressively improving. A President who receives daily briefings from his team and meets with Nigerians from all walks of life on a daily basis - from business leaders to religious leaders, socio-cultural groups, and professional groups - cannot be falsely accused of being disconnected from the people's realities."
