Telegram founder to share wealth with his over 100 children

Pavel Durov, the billionaire creator of Telegram, has announced that he plans to share his entire wealth with over 100 children he has raised around the globe.

In a frank conversation with French publication Le Point, the 40-year-old Russian business mogul indicated that many of these children came from sperm donations he made 15 years prior. “The clinic where I began donating sperm 15 years ago informed me that over 100 babies had been conceived this way in 12 different countries,” Durov stated.

Alongside these children, Durov has six of his own with three different partners. He stressed that he views all of them equally and intends to treat them the same in terms of inheritance matters.

“They are all my children and will have equal rights,” he mentioned. “I want to prevent them from fighting each other after my passing.”

However, Durov pointed out that none of these children will be able to access their inheritance for another 30 years. He clarified that this delay is deliberate, intended to motivate them to lead independent lives.

“I want them to experience life like ordinary individuals, to establish themselves independently, to develop self-trust, and to be able to create rather than rely on a bank account,” he explained.

Durov also shared that he has already set up a will, referencing the dangers linked to his position at Telegram. “Protecting freedoms makes you numerous adversaries, even from influential governments,” he remarked.

Telegram, the encrypted messaging platform he established, currently has over one billion active users monthly and is recognized for its firm commitment to user privacy.

In the interview, Durov also discussed his legal issues in France, where he is facing criminal charges for allegedly not preventing unlawful activities—including drug trafficking and child abuse content—on the Telegram service. He dismissed the claims as “completely ridiculous.”

“Just because some criminals utilize our messaging service among many others doesn’t imply that those who operate it are criminals,” he stated.

Telegram has asserted that it actively strives to regulate harmful content, countering accusations of negligence.
