Apple’s AI features face delay, says report

"Apple Inc.'s highly anticipated artificial intelligence (AI) features will be delayed, missing the launch of the company's upcoming iPhone and iPad software updates, according to a Bloomberg News report. The AI features, known as Apple Intelligence, are now expected to debut in October, several weeks after the initial releases of iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 in September.

Apple will offer Apple Intelligence to software developers for early testing through the iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 beta versions, starting as soon as this week. The company has not yet commented on the delay.

Apple Intelligence uses AI to generate text, images, and other content on demand and will be available on iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPads, and Macs equipped with M1 chips or newer. The upcoming MacOS Sequoia update will also include iPhone Mirroring, allowing users to view and interact with their iPhone screens directly on Mac computers.

This delay follows Apple's decision in late June to postpone the launch of three new AI functionalities to comply with new European Union regulations requiring compatibility with rival products and services."
