Ed Sheeran claimed he penned 'Shape Of You' with Rihanna in mind
In a recent interview with Hits Radio, Grammy-winning British singer Ed Sheeran shared that Barbadian superstar Rihanna served as the inspiration for his chart-topping hit song, 'Shape Of You.'
He described Rihanna as a versatile artist, capable of tackling any genre, and praised her as the ultimate inspiration for songwriters. Sheeran revealed that when he wrote 'Shape Of You,' he envisioned Rihanna as the ideal performer for the track.
'Shape Of You' was launched on January 6, 2017, as a key single from Ed Sheeran's third studio album, 'Divide.' This track secured the Grammy Award for Best Pop Solo Performance at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards.
In addition, Ed Sheeran disclosed that he authored Justin Bieber's popular song, 'Love Yourself.' He mentioned that the track faced rejections from several artists before finding its way to Bieber.
