Sergio Ramos Sets New Champions League Records

Sergio Ramos, the iconic Spanish defender, continues to etch his name in Champions League history, achieving two new records during a group stage match against PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday, November 29.

In the 29th minute of the game, Ramos scored for Sevilla, adding to his remarkable tally in the Champions League. Although the goal didn't secure a victory for Sevilla, it became a historic moment as Ramos became the scorer of the 10,000th goal in the tournament.

Executing a powerful header from Ivan Rakitic's cross at Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, Ramos not only marked his 16th goal in the Champions League but also accomplished the feat of scoring a goal in the competition after a span of 6,773 days. His debut goal dates back to December 2005, setting a record for the longest gap between debut and most recent goals in the UCL.

At 37 years old, Sergio Ramos stands as the fourth-oldest scorer in the Champions League, with Pepe, his former Real Madrid center-back partner, leading the list at 40 years old.

It's noteworthy that the Sevilla team, with an average age of 32 years and 19 days, became the oldest starting lineup in Champions League history during the match against PSV. This achievement surpassed the previous record set by Inter Milan in February 2012, with an average age of 31 years and 331 days.
