Onome Ebi: Falcons Remain Committed to World Cup Game, No Boycott Planned over Match Bonus

Onome Ebi, the captain of the Super Falcons of Nigeria, has refuted claims that the team is considering boycotting their FIFA Women's World Cup opening game against Canada on Friday, July 21, in Melbourne.

"I have no clue where that boycott rumor originated. The players and I never discussed such a possibility. We are focused on training and fully prepared for the World Cup," Ebi stated to thenff.com during the team's training camp in Gold Coast, Australia, on Saturday morning.

As she participates in her sixth FIFA World Cup finals, the defender added that the team's training sessions have been rigorous yet captivating, as they eagerly anticipate facing Group B opponents such as Olympic champions Canada, co-hosts Australia, and debutants Republic of Ireland.

"The training sessions have been intense, inspiring, and satisfactory. The team is in excellent physical condition, high spirits, and fully prepared. The atmosphere in camp is evident through our training, and it aligns with my expectations."

"The players are excelling in both physical and tactical aspects of training, and the overall mood is positive."
