Kalu in China for brief Zheijang stint

Nigeria’s D’Tigress guard, Ezinne Kalu, has arrived in China to play for the WCBA team Zhejiang Golden Bulls for a short period.

The 32-year-old recently played for Atlanta Dream, where she averaged 3.5 points, 1.0 assists, and 1.0 steals in two WNBA games last season. She shared her excitement about moving to China in a post on her social media account and thanked everyone for their support.

After finalizing her move to Zhejiang for the 2024/25 season on October 2, Kalu, who had previously played for Oxygen Roma Basket in the Italian Serie A1 league, is now ready for her new challenge.

Following her impressive performance for the D’Tigress at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, Kalu revealed her signing with the Chinese club on October 11, expressing her eagerness to connect with her fans.

Kalu recently fulfilled her dream of playing in the WNBA when she joined Atlanta Dream on a seven-day hardship contract, a moment that she joyfully shared on her social media.

In a tweet, Kalu expressed her happiness about finally getting the opportunity to play in the prestigious league and also revealed that she is the first athlete from a historically black college to join the WNBA in over 15 years.

Since 2016, Kalu has consistently been a standout player for the D’Tigress, contributing to their success in the last three FIBA Women’s Afrobasket Championship editions.
