Bash Ali laments how he transitioned from being a millionaire in dollars to a state of financial har

Bashiru Lawrence Ali, the former World Boxing Federation cruiserweight champion, widely recognized as Bash Ali, shared on social media his journey "from being a millionaire in dollars to a zeronaire in naira." This revelation came through a Facebook post on Tuesday as he marked his 68th birthday.

He detailed the hurdles he encountered over a period of 17 years while striving to organize his Guinness World Record Boxing Championship fight in Nigeria, underscoring his steadfast resistance to corruption.

He expressed, "Today, on Tuesday, February 27, marks my birthday.

"For 17 years, I struggled in vain to host my Guinness World Record Boxing Championship Fight in my homeland, Nigeria. This was because I dared to say no to corruption in sports, particularly in Nigeria.

"In those 17 years, I transitioned from being a millionaire in dollars to a zeronaire in naira.

"Throughout this period, I endured beatings and injuries, necessitating two admissions and treatments at the National Hospital in Abuja.

"Over these 17 years, I faced detention eight times in various police stations in Abuja and spent 43 days once at Kuje Prison.

"I underwent immense challenges in my country, not because I am a criminal but because I refused to succumb to corruption. Despite lucrative offers to fight outside Nigeria, I persevered in my dream to fight within Nigeria, demonstrating unwavering commitment to my country.

"Today, our dream is finally turning into a reality, and being an extraordinary individual, I am committed to fighting until the age of 70, retiring young and healthy, amassing substantial wealth, and then aspiring to become the President of Nigeria. This is my ultimate goal, so mark my words."

"Thank you so much for consistently standing by my side. I deeply appreciate your constant support. Happy birthday to the great Bash Ali."
