President Tinubu Chairs Inaugural Federal Executive Council (FEC) Meeting
At the Presidential Villa in Abuja, President Bola Tinubu is presiding over the inaugural session of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) in the Council Chambers.
The session, which began shortly after noon on Monday, has in attendance Vice President Kashim Shettima, Sen. George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, and Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.
Among the other participants are Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to the President, the newly appointed ministers, and various high-ranking government officials.
As stipulated by the Ministers' Statutory Powers and Duties Act, the council is designated to function as an advisory entity to the President, who assumes the position of the FEC's chairman.
The FEC holds a constitutional responsibility in providing guidance to the President for shaping the course of the government, even though the President retains the final authority in executive decisions.
The FEC represents the federal government's cabinet and functions within the executive branch. Its primary duty is to offer advisory input to the President, who concurrently presides as its chairman.
