President Buhari gives a tour of the presidential villa to President-elect Tinubu

President Muhammadu Buhari accompanies President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu on a tour of the Presidential Villa, aimed at acquainting him with the operations and functions of the State House. The visit is in preparation for Tinubu's upcoming inauguration on May 29, 2023, which will be held at Eagle Square in Abuja.

Following their Jumat Prayers at the Mosque within the Presidential Villa, both leaders, President Muhammadu Buhari and President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu, took a leisurely walk around the villa premises. This stroll allowed them to explore the surroundings and engage in a familiarization exercise. Notably, Vice President-elect Kashim Shettima had also undertaken a similar tour of the Vice President's wing the previous day, led by outgoing Vice President Yemi Osinbajo. During their walk, Buhari and Tinubu made a brief stop at the Press Gallery, where journalists covering the State House typically gather. However, they did not address the reporters, leaving them with unanswered questions.

Accompanied by a sizable entourage of Presidency officials and security personnel, the President and his successor embarked on the tour under the guidance of the State House Chief of Protocols (SCoP), Ambassador Lawal Kazaure.

Notable figures such as the Chief of Staff, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, and the Permanent Secretary, Umar Tijjani, were also present during the tour of the President's wing within the State House. This visit followed closely after the President's conferment of prestigious national honors upon Tinubu and Vice President-elect Kashim Shettima at the State House Banquet Hall the previous day.

Ahead of the scheduled handover of power on Monday, May 29, 2023, both leaders engaged in a formal exchange of documents.
