Igbo Group Criticizes Peter Obi, Urges an End to Insults in Tinubu’s Certificate Controversy

The Omalegwuoku Progressive Initiative, a socio-political group representing the Igbo community, strongly criticized Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), for his remarks concerning President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In response to a press conference held by Obi, the group, represented by Ambassador Ginika Tor, the Global President, urged the former Governor of Anambra State to refrain from fooling himself and insulting Nigerians by challenging President Tinubu to disclose his identity.

Tor, who also serves as a Commissioner with the Federal Character Commission (FCC), expressed disappointment at Obi's statements, emphasizing that the focus should be on leading the nation towards progress and development.

She stated, "It is an insult to Nigeria as a nation for you to call out our president who was massively supported, elected, confirmed, and validated as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to come and stand before who? To say he is from this state, from this country, from this region, from this locality? Does he owe us that? What the President owes us now is to take us to our destination of choice."

Tor cautioned against being misled by Obi's press interview and advised him to reconsider his approach, reminding him of the potential consequences on his political future. She concluded by highlighting the global challenges and urging attention to pressing issues rather than distracting controversies.
