Tinubu expresses grief over the victims of the tragic boat accident in Kwara, and directs a thorough

On Wednesday, President Bola Tinubu conveyed his sorrow regarding the tragic boat incident in Kwara State, where a minimum of 100 lives were lost. 

He further instructed the appropriate authorities to thoroughly investigate both the immediate and underlying reasons behind the accident. Additionally, he urged them to promptly extend relief and support to the survivors and the bereaved families affected by this devastating event.

The State House Director of Information, Abiodun Oladunjoye, issued a statement titled 'President Tinubu mourns victims of Kwara boat accident, orders a thorough investigation,' which contains Tinubu's message of condolence. 

The boat incident occurred in Egbu village, Patigi Local Government Area of the state, resulting in the unfortunate loss of over 100 lives, who were wedding guests.

Expressing his profound sorrow, President Tinubu conveyed, "The news of the tragic boat accident in Kwara State, claiming the lives of our fellow citizens, deeply saddens me. The fact that these individuals were attending a wedding ceremony makes this unfortunate incident even more agonizing."

President Tinubu extended his sympathy to both the government and the people of Kwara State in light of the incident. He offered his prayers for comfort to those who have lost their loved ones during these difficult times.

In addition, President Tinubu urged the Kwara State Government and relevant Federal Government agencies to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the boat accident. He assured that his administration would address the challenges associated with inland water transportation in the country and ensure strict adherence to safety and operational standards.

Expressing his directives, the President emphasized, "It is essential for the Kwara State Government and relevant federal agencies to collaborate and determine the immediate and underlying causes of this regrettable accident. Immediate relief and necessary assistance must also be promptly provided to support the survivors and the families of the victims."
