The police have apprehended a suspected cult member believed to be connected to the murder of a DPO

A suspected cult member implicated in the murder of Divisional Police Officer (DPO), SP Bako Angbashim, in Ahoada-East, Rivers State, has been apprehended by the police.

In a social media video, an unnamed suspect was shown with both hands bound behind his back and a tire placed on him.

This individual, under interrogation, is the most recent arrest related to the brutal killing of Angbashim on September 8, 2023, in Odumude Forest during an ambush by an alleged Iceland cult group.

Previously, the Rivers State Police Command had detained six suspects linked to the murder.

Furthermore, the Rivers State Police Command issued a wanted notice for Gift David Okpara, also known as 2Baba, in connection with the DPO's homicide.

Meanwhile, Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has pledged a reward of N100 million for anyone providing information that leads to the arrest of 2Baba.

In the video lasting four minutes and thirteen seconds, the suspect, when questioned about the whereabouts of the DPO's body following the murder, denied any involvement in the killing.

"I won't deceive you, sir. I wasn't there when they killed the DPO. I was on the other side of the water when they brought the DPO's body. I swear by Almighty God, who created me. When they brought his body, I couldn't even bear to look at it. I had to hide. I can even take you to the place where they brought him."

When queried about the quantity of firearms possessed by 2Baba and the identity of those supplying him, he responded, "I assure you, 2Baba has quite a number of guns, possibly up to 40. During my time there, the individual who provides him with firearms only communicates via phone. Whenever he requires firearms, he calls the individual and sends money to them.

Once the money is transferred through an account, he informs us that the guns have been delivered, and he proceeds to collect them."
