Shell appoints Ronald Adams as new managing director of SNEPCo

Shell Plc has appointed Mr. Ronald Adams as the new Managing Director of its deep-water subsidiary, Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited.

Gladys Afam-Anadu, Shell's Media Relations Manager, confirmed this in a statement released on Tuesday.

Adams previously served as Chief Executive Officer of Atlantic LNG in Trinidad and Tobago.

As Managing Director of Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited, he will bring a wealth of experience from the energy sector.

According to Afam-Anadu, Adams succeeds Elohor Aiboni, who is taking on a new international role as Asset Director at Brunei Shell Petroleum.

She added that both appointments will go into effect on October 1.

Osagie Okunbor, the Country Chair of Shell Companies in Nigeria, congratulated Adams on his appointment and emphasised the importance of consolidating and improving SNEPCo's deep-water production performance, as well as its social investments throughout Nigeria.

He also praised Elohor Aiboni for her significant contributions since taking over the position in August 2021.

Okunbor stated that her new position in Brunei provides her with another opportunity to make an impact within the Shell Group, demonstrating the company's commitment to talent development and mobility.

Aiboni reflected on her tenure, saying, "It has been a great honour to work with my colleagues and external stakeholders to build a safe, streamlined, and cost-effective business that leads in deep-water operations in Nigeria.

"I am particularly grateful for the invaluable support from our concessionaire and co-venture partners, which has greatly facilitated our efforts."

Ronald Adams has over 32 years of energy industry experience, having led both Shell-operated and non-operated ventures. His professional experience has included a wide range of challenges, both business and technical in nature.

He has a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of the West Indies, which gives him a strong foundation in the field.

He also earned an MBA in Strategic Planning from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, which helped him improve his project management and strategic planning skills.

Adams' extensive experience and educational background establish him as a respected energy leader.

SNEPCo pioneered Nigeria's deep-water development in 2005, when it began production at the Bonga field using a Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading vessel with a capacity of 225,000 barrels per day.
