Residents of Rivers estate are apprehensive about potential arrests concerning a lady's corpse
In Royale Estate, situated off SARS Road in the Obio/Akpo Local Government Area of Rivers State, residents are gripped with fear after the unsettling discovery of a lifeless woman's body in their neighborhood.
Their anxiety stems from the possibility of facing mass arrests after waking up to the distressing sight on a Saturday night.
As of now, the woman's identity remains a mystery, leaving the residents perplexed about how the body ended up there.
A female resident, wishing to remain anonymous due to the sensitive nature of the incident, suggested that the lady might have been murdered and abandoned at the location.
Expressing her thoughts, she stated, "I hope the police conduct a comprehensive investigation to uncover the truth about what happened to her."
"It's hard to believe that a young lady like this would just die on the road. Something must have happened."
The incident caused alarm among residents and many others, prompting them to swiftly depart the area due to apprehensions of potential arrests.
"One of them voiced concerns, saying, 'Who knows what might have occurred? Let the police or the appropriate agency come and remove the body before they start arresting people indiscriminately.'"
Despite attempts to contact the state Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, she remained unavailable, as she did not answer calls made to her mobile phone. Furthermore, she had not responded to a text message sent to her at the time of filing this report on Monday afternoon.
