PDP dominates Bayelsa LG election results
The Bayelsa State chapter of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) emerged victorious in the local government election conducted by the State Independent Electoral Commission on Saturday.
The PDP secured the chairmanship positions in all eight local government areas and claimed victory in all 105 councillorship positions across the wards, as per the official results announced by the commission in Yenagoa on Sunday.
Despite being the major opposition party in the state, the All Progressives Congress (APC) chose not to participate in the election, thus not fielding any candidates.
In Yenagoa LGA, Buloudisiye Ndiwari was declared the winner by the BYSIEC’s returning officer, Wisdom Soreh, after garnering 56,103 votes.
Professor Abiodun Adelegan, the returning officer for Sagbama Local Government Area, announced Alice Tangi as the victor, securing a total of 51,543 votes.
Golden Jeremiah emerged as the winner in Ogbia Local Government Area, declared by the returning officer, Tams Deiduomo, having secured 42,462 votes.
In Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, Target Segibo emerged as the winner with 36,326 votes, as announced by the returning officer, Ebi Stanley-Udisi.
In Nembe LGA, David Alagoa, the former Commissioner for Agriculture, secured victory with 11,829 votes, declared by the returning officer, Prof Festus Akpotohwo.
Lelei Tariye emerged victorious in Kolokuma/Opokuma LGA with 27,823 votes, announced by the returning officer, Prof Apuega Arikawei.
In Ekeremor LGA, Onniye Isaac was declared the winner with 35,177 votes by the returning officer, Prof Joseph Omoro, while Febo Lucky of the PDP emerged victorious in Brass LGA, declared by the same returning officer.
