Ongoing recruitment: How to apply for FIRS jobs
The Federal Inland Revenue Service has revealed that its recruitment portal for tax officer roles will open, with applications starting at 12:00 am on November 2nd, 2024.
This announcement was made by the FIRS in a notice posted on Friday through its official X account.
The tax agency indicated that it aims to fill Officer I and Officer II roles in various locations across Nigeria.
“The FIRS strongly encourages women, minorities, and persons with disabilities to submit their applications,” the agency stated in its official recruitment announcement.
Positions are available in eight states: Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo, Ekiti, Lagos, and Oyo. However, candidates who are selected should understand that they “must be willing to work at any of FIRS’s business locations,” even if it differs from their initial location preference.
To qualify, candidates must meet several key criteria. According to the age stipulation, applicants “must be 27 years old or younger by December 31, 2024.”
Applicants are required to hold a Bachelor’s Degree (or HND) with a First Class or Second Class Upper Division in a pertinent field, including Accounting, Actuarial Science, Business Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Economics, Law, Mathematics, Statistics, among other relevant areas.
The organization also noted that “having relevant master’s degrees and professional certifications (such as ICAN, ACCA, ANAN, COREN, NSE, etc.) would be an added benefit.”
Multiple assessment phases will be involved in the selection process.
“Only candidates who are shortlisted will be contacted for further evaluation, which may consist of aptitude tests, interviews, and medical checks,” the notice specified.
The FIRS emphasized the significance of utilizing official channels for submitting applications, warning applicants to be vigilant about fraudulent recruitment schemes, and directing all submissions to their official website: www.firs.gov.ng/careers.
The deadline for application submissions is November 14th, 2024.
To be considered for a position, applicants should submit only one application for their chosen location, as submitting multiple applications is prohibited.
“The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) is dedicated to fostering equal opportunities for all qualified candidates, irrespective of gender, ethnicity, or background,” added the FIRS.
