Niger's governor seeks partnership with China for railway network
In Minna, the capital of Niger State, Governor Umaru Bago convened a significant meeting with a delegation from the China Railway Corporation, as revealed by his Special Adviser on Digital Communications, Abdullberqy Ebbo, in a statement shared on Tuesday via his X handle. The discussions centered on exploring avenues for collaboration to develop a comprehensive railway network that would traverse all three geopolitical zones of the state and extend connectivity to the federal capital, Abuja. The statement emphasized Governor Bago's proactive approach in fostering partnerships to drive infrastructure development and enhance regional connectivity.
"The corporation, well-known for its construction expertise in China's vast railway network, engaged in discussions aimed at forging a partnership to facilitate the establishment of a railway infrastructure spanning three geopolitical zones within the state and extending to Abuja."
"The meeting further explored potential collaborative ventures across diverse sectors such as agriculture, housing, and the construction of airline hangars, alongside the development of the Cango terminal at Bola Tinubu International Airport Minna. As part of the effort to formalize this collaboration, the delegation intends to prepare a Concept Note and memorandum of understanding (MoU) outlining the terms of engagement with the state."
