Idahosa inaugurates 12-man committee for Edo Sport Festival
Dennis Idahosa, Edo State Deputy Governor, inaugurated a 12-man planning committee for the fourth Edo State Sports Festival on Friday, urging them to work as a team and ensure a smooth event.Amadin Enabulele, Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, will lead the 12-member committee, with Sabina Amiemoghena serving as secretary.
During the committee's inauguration at Government House, the deputy governor stated that the sports festival was part of the state government's developmental strategy to improve sports at the grassroots level.
"Research has shown that sports competition is a veritable platform to groom sportsmen and women, talents identification and enhancing the physical well-being of the people," according to him.
"The Edo State Government places a premium on grassroots sports, hence the state is participating in the National Sports Festival in May which will no doubt boost socio-economic development of communities of the state and enhance the physical and mental well-being of athletes during the festival."

He went on to say, "I am confident that the members of the Edo Sports Commission, who have a good track record and proven integrity, will bring their vast experience to bear in organising a successful sports festival.
"I will urge the committee members to work seamlessly together as a team, to ensure Edo State get the best for the National Sports Festival."
Responding on behalf of other members, Enabulele stated that the committee's formation demonstrated the Edo State Government's unwavering commitment to sports development.
He acknowledged the enormity of the committee's task and assured that it would go to any length to fulfil its mandate and make Edo State proud.
Enabulele assured that the committee would carry out its mandate in a transparent, honest, and innovative manner, as well as collaborate with sponsors and various sports associations to ensure that the state's best athletes compete at the National Sports Festival.
