Four Bodies Discovered in Room of Cult Member in Ogun State

The Ogun State command of the Nigeria Police Force has issued a statement revealing the discovery of four deceased individuals in the residence of a cult member named Bolaji Ogunkemaya. This revelation comes in the wake of recent unrest in Sagamu town, where two rival cult groups, Aiye and Eiye, reportedly clashed over a dispute related to the division of commissions from a land transaction.

The clashes, which lasted for several days, resulted in at least 20 casualties. During the investigation into the incident, Bolaji Ogunkemaya and six others were apprehended as suspects.

The police statement clarifies that the four bodies found in Ogunkemaya's residence were all victims of violence that occurred in the same location. Ogunkemaya allegedly confessed to the police that the cult gang's leader, known as Azubuike aka BETTER, had been arrested by the Sagamu Area Commander two weeks prior to the incident.

The other suspects taken into custody are Asaiye Omolaja, Azeez Nofiu, and Mathew Adewale. One individual named Wasiu, who is also believed to be a member of a cult group, managed to evade arrest by the authorities.

The police command conducted a raid in Sagamu, collaborating with the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) in response to the ongoing violence. This operation resulted in the apprehension of the seven suspected cultists, the recovery of a firearm, three live cartridges, and a criminal charm.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Alamutu Abiodun Mustapha, personally visited Sagamu to assess the situation and profile the suspects. He declared a zero-tolerance policy toward senseless killings and emphasized that none of the cultists involved would go unpunished.

The police statement concludes by stating that the restoration of peace and security in Sagamu reflects the authorities' commitment to maintaining law and order in Ogun State.

Additionally, it was earlier reported that the Police Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, claimed that a significant number of young individuals in Sagamu are involved in cult activities. He stated that this issue extends beyond the anti-cultism squad and that both elders and politicians in the area are aware of the situation and must take appropriate action to address it.
