FUNAAB VC unveils 21st century vision

Prof. Olusola Kehinde, the new Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, unveiled his vision for a 21st-century university on Monday.

Prof. Kehinde made this known during his installation as the institution's seventh substantive VC.

He succeeded Prof. Felix Salako, the previous VC, after serving in an acting capacity for five months.

In the next five years, the VC hopes to place FUNAAB among the top five universities in Nigeria and among the top 100 in Africa.




He declared that the university urgently needs to position itself for new trends in global education.

"The FUNAAB of the twenty-first century shall be one committed to creating a platform for the provision of equal access to high-quality educational opportunities for all at all levels, as well as one committed to instilling national consciousness, values, and unity, as well as the development of appropriate skills, including mental/physical/social abilities, and the competencies required to equip individuals to live in, and positively contribute to, national and global development."

"If we are to remain relevant in the global competition for university research and innovation, our university urgently needs to position itself for new trends in global education."


He also stated that his vision is based on the "FUNAAB Agenda," which outlines the university's five-year plan.

He emphasized the importance of quality research and academic excellence in developing a university for the twenty-first century, emphasizing that academic standards must never be compromised, and the University must create an environment in which individuals can thrive and develop in accordance with their needs and potentials.

"A 21st-century university is one that fosters an environment in which individuals can thrive and develop in accordance with their needs and potentials."

"The university that I am inviting us all to help build is one that will provide unrestricted access to education," he said.

He stated that the University would commit to providing equal access to high-quality educational opportunities for all, instilling national consciousness, values, and unity, and developing appropriate skills such as mental, physical, and social abilities.
