Covenant university ranked Nigeria’s best in 2024 — US Report
Covenant University has secured the position of Nigeria's leading university in the 2024 World University Rankings by Times Higher Education (THE).
The Times Higher Education World Rankings is a highly regarded annual evaluation of global universities, encompassing 1,907 institutions from 108 countries in this year's edition.
Covenant University, the highest-ranking university in Nigeria, has been placed within the 801-1000 range globally, alongside the University of Ibadan (UI).
The rankings are determined using 18 performance indicators that assess universities across five key areas: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry impact, and international outlook.
This year's rankings involved the analysis of over 134 million citations from 16.5 million research publications and survey responses from more than 68,000 scholars. A total of 411,789 data points from 2,673 universities were utilized to establish the final rankings.
Globally, the University of Oxford maintained its position as the top university for the eighth consecutive year. Stanford University advanced to second place, while the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) rose to third, displacing Harvard University to fourth. The University of Cambridge moved down to fifth after being jointly ranked third last year.
