MMA Customs: N28bn Revenue in 2 Months
The Nigeria Customs Service, Murtala Muhammed Airport Command, announced a revenue of N28 billion for January and February. This achievement surpassed the command's monthly revenue target, as stated by the Customs Area Controller, Mohammed Yusuf, who attributed it to the collaboration and compliance of officers and stakeholders. He encouraged continued efforts to maintain this success.
Providing specifics on the revenue, he mentioned that the command's projected target for January and February was N23.9 billion. However, the actual revenue generated during this period amounted to N28.9 billion, marking a significant increase of N5 billion, equivalent to a 20 percent growth.
Yusuf also highlighted the anti-smuggling efforts conducted during this period, resulting in the seizure of 50 pieces of 9mm live ammunition discovered during a joint examination with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency. Two suspects were apprehended and detained pending further investigation.
Furthermore, in terms of wildlife trafficking, he reported the interception of 1,164kg of sea cucumbers and 58kg of Donkey Genitals within the same period.
The Customs Area Controller (CAC) urged the officers and personnel of the command to stay steadfast in order to validate the trust placed in the service by the Federal Government.
