According to Arewa Paradigm Shift, Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike ignored his Sokoto State counterpart, Aminu Tambuwal, in inviting an All Progressives Congress founding father, Senator Aliyu Wamakko, to inaugurate a project in the state in early August.
In a statement issued in Kaduna on Saturday, the group’s Director of Mobilisation, Alhaji Adamu Musa-Illela, stated that “Wike knows that Wamakko, as the ‘godfather’ of the North-West APC, is a more influential political figure in the North than Sokoto state’s helmsman (Tambuwal).”
At Governor Wike’s invitation, the former governor of Sokoto State (Wamakko) inaugurated the Ogbum-Nu-Abali Eastern Bypass road.
The group noted that, in a surprising move, Wike chose Wamakko over Tambuwal, a fellow party member and long-time associate, prior to the PDP presidential primary.
“Governor Wike extended an official invitation to this godfather of Sokoto politics because the Rivers governor knows who matters the most politically in the North today.” “Wamako is a tactician who assisted Buhari in winning the North-West in 2015 and 2019.”
The statement also stated that Wike’s performance in office was a reflection of his personal capacity and passion to deliver long-term development to the people of Rivers State, rather than his affiliation with the Peoples Democratic Party.
“Political heavyweights like Wamako are necessary alliance partners for victory in the North-West today,” the group declared.
