According to reports, a $20 monthly fee will be imposed on Twitter users who have a verification badge under Elon Musk’s new ownership.
According to the Daily Mail, Musk intends to launch a pay-for-play verification system in which verified users would be charged $20 per month.
Engineers at the microblogging site have until November 7 to launch the scheme or face termination.
On October 30, the project was announced to employees.
The verification fee is said to be subject to change.
Musk tweeted hours before the report: “The entire verification process is being revamped right now.”
