The NFF officially announces the departure of Super Falcons' coach, Randy Waldrum

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has indirectly verified the departure of Randy Waldrum, who led the Super Falcons to the recently concluded Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, from his role as the senior women's national team manager for the country.

Yesterday, the NFF instructed its technical committee to begin the search for new leadership for the team, in anticipation of the Paris 2024 Olympics qualifiers. While there was a strained relationship between Waldrum and the federation prior to the World Cup, Nigeria's strong performance during the tournament appeared to mend the rift. However, following the championship, rumors surfaced suggesting that the NFF would not extend the contract of the American coach, which expired after the competition.

Speaking during the inauguration of the newly formed NFF Technical Committee in Abuja, the federation's president, Ibrahim Musa Gusau, urged the committee to assemble fresh technical staff for a majority of the national teams and offer them guidance.

Gusau expressed, "The Super Falcons returned from the FIFA World Cup with distinction, but we should remember that they have qualifying matches for the 2024 Olympics and the 2024 Women's AFCON coming up soon, and they should commence preparations for those games."

He assured that the NFF would provide full support to the committee in accomplishing its tasks, highlighting that meetings could be conducted in person or via video conference.

In response, Sharif Rabiu Inuwa, the Chairman of the committee, affirmed that the committee would fulfill its responsibilities with utmost diligence, guided by the vision of the Gusau-led administration. Their aim is to work proactively and energetically to foster genuine growth of football in Nigeria across all aspects and aspects.
