Roma part ways with Jose Mourinho

Roma has dismissed Jose Mourinho following a stretch in which the Giallorossi secured only one victory in their last six Serie A matches and were eliminated from the Coppa Italia by city rivals Lazio.

Announced as manager in May 2021, the 60-year-old Jose Mourinho's contract with Roma, initially set to run until the end of the 23/24 season, has been terminated early due to the team's disappointing performances this season.

The club released a statement expressing gratitude, stating, "We would like to thank José on behalf of all of us at AS Roma for his passion and efforts since his arrival at the club. We will always have great memories of his tenure at Roma, but we believe that an immediate change is in the best interests of the club. We wish José and his assistants all the best in their future endeavors."

Roma's challenging season has them currently placed ninth in the Serie A table. The recent 3-1 loss to Milan marked Mourinho's final game in charge.

Despite the struggles, Mourinho had notable achievements with Roma, leading them to their first European title in 2022 by winning the Europa Conference League and guiding the team to the final of the Europa League the following season.
