Musa declares Super Eagles' aim to clinch the title
Captain Ahmed Musa has reaffirmed the Super Eagles' determination to secure the title at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. As three-time champions, they are considered among the favorites for the biennial competition.
Musa, a member of the Super Eagles squad that clinched the AFCON trophy in 2013 in South Africa, is confident in the team's quality to triumph in Cote d’Ivoire.
“We possess the necessary quality to secure victory. When you look at the players in the 25-man squad, there's no doubt that we are geared towards winning.
"In football, anything can happen, but our mindset is focused on winning it. The coach has set the target to win the AFCON, and with the grace of God, we will achieve it.”
Nigeria is set to encounter hosts Cote d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau in Group A. The Super Eagles will kick off their campaign against Nzalang Nacional of Equatorial Guinea on Sunday, January 14.
